Mandalay is one of the largest cities and the former capital of Myanmar. This is the economic and religious center of Myanmar. Mandalay is actually a new city that was founded by King Mingdon Min since 1857, now being a pretty, wondrous country in Southeast Asia with numerous sights of interesting cultural and exotic natural sceneries. As a land of immortality, Mandalay has become a tourist attraction, captivates many people by its prosperous cultural heritage and unique natural environment: imposing mountains, eye-catching lakes, twisting rivers, and luxuriant rainforest.

Mandalay isa splendid city between 1858 and 1885, yet nowadays most of greatness has been losing, partly destroyed by fire from the wooden structure and the rest by the intensive bombs in the Second World War. In these modern days, the city is located at the end of Lashio Roads and is a rich hub for trade with China. Though it is no longer the capital city, Mandalay still remains King’s best creations which are modern re-creations of government surveillance military authorities with the help of the dedicated labor force.

 

It can be said that this place is the cradle of the mostrefined art, traditional dance, and live music of the country. It is also famous for local handiwork of gold and silver, and carving of wood and marble.

 

Mandalayhas a subtropical climate and lies in the dry zone, so it has less rain than other regions. The people in Mandalay is ethnically diverse with the majority is Barman’s people. Coming in this city, you will be able to see the hard-working and skillful workers and feel their friendliness and generosity. 

 

Travel around the city by taxis or motorcycle and explore some famous religious sites including Maha Myat Muni Paya where there is a 4-meter Buddha statue; Shwe Kyi Myin Paya built since 1st century; and Mandalay Hill in which located several monasteries and temples. Besides, there are plenty of exciting activities awaiting for you there.
