Among ethnics living along Mekong River, Khmer and Cham people have the most characterized culture: from custom to lifestyle, from traditional festival to costumes. Coming to Cambodia, tourists will get amazed by the variety of colors and designs as well as the delicacy in decorative patterns on costumes of these ethnics.
Costumes of Khmer people can be divided into two types: daily costume and festive costume. Most of Khmer people live on fishing and farming; therefore, they often wear clothes that are convenient for their works.
Cham people always distinctive way of wearing; and Cham people in Cambodia also have distinguished clothes. Both Cham men and women wear a garment like sarong but knotted around the waist which is named as batik.
